Aged Care Tsunami Is Coming

Alright, it’s Grant.

I’m standing outside my mum’s nursing home in Adelaide.

It’s expanded from 28 beds to 54 beds.

Why?

Because the silent generation is now entering aged care.

But the real issue lies ahead.

The front end of the baby boomers are now turning 81.

There are 5.5 million baby boomers.

This is the aged care tsunami.

We’re already experiencing:

• Bed shortages

• Funding pressures

• Rising costs

What’s coming?

• Higher aged care costs

• Larger refundable accommodation deposits

• Increased demand

• Higher taxes

This isn’t happening overnight.

But over the next five to ten years, this becomes one of Australia’s biggest economic pressures.
